Monster

How is a monster created? Does it start in the mind? Does it start with an action? Perhaps like standing over the shoulders of a victim as a dark and menacing shadow in broad daylight away from the camera, haunting, laughing, peering down.

Let’s be clear. It’s a crime.

It’s not ok.

Does bad behavior become monstrous when enablers come to their defense?

Despite the unknown number of victims, a single perpetrator looms in the horizon. A monster of an unknown origin. Deeply insecure. Hubris run wild. History makes more sense now. The question has lingered for a while. When the hubris-driven illiterate claimed powers of gods to do as he liked, why did others oblige? It’s starting to make sense. Monsters don’t appear overnight.

Fear.

It’s still a crime.

To hold secrets so grave. To bear traumas so deep. To be around such evil. To question with callousness those willing to stand up. To defend a monster must take premeditation or else the defenders have no heart. After all, Frankenstein was not the monster. He was the creator.

Deception.

It’s still a crime.

Will time heal? Perhaps. But in all likelihood this will mar adulthood. Coping methods will be sought. One hopes such methods will leave no side effects. But most likely they will.

Trauma.

It’s still a crime.

The monster lurks.
